Our Trip to Ropes Mansion Garden

Praise be! Where does the time go? Between our whirl-wind mission trips to New England and Panama City Beach, Florida, I just haven't found one single solitary little minute to fellowship with my friends here on the Blog Stream.

But I simply MUST share these beautiful photographs that Whitney and I took while at the Ropes Mansion Garden in Salem, Massachusetts.

Lorna & Whitney at Ropes Mansion Gardens

We arrived at the gardens a tad later than we expected, due in large to a slight misunderstanding earlier in the day between Whitney and the local authorities and the manager of the CVS over a bag of Werthers Originals® candy that had somehow made it into her purse.

But we finally arrived and it was just beautiful. Praise be!

This is the arbor and a sundail along the pebbly path...

More winding pebbly paths...

The lovely koi pond. Whitney had to be reminded several times by the caretaker..."NO FISHING!"...

Here is Lamar's oldest girl, Chantel, enjoying the gardens...

A lovely old garden bench, where we rested, sipped on a Tab, and took an emory board to Whitney's plantar wart....

To Some It's A Mere Snack Cake

Whitney and I were shopping at the Piggly Wiggly today...and as per usual, we paused for reflection in front of the Little Debbie shrine on aisle 4. We observed a moment of silence. Whitney fell to her knees, overcome by the greatness of the Swiss Cake Rolls, the Star Crunches, the Banana Twins, the Oatmeal Cream Pies, and the Fancy Cakes. I was overcome as well. I gave her my hand...lifting her up and reminding her that Little Debbie also produced Choco-Jells...and she came out of her trance. Choco-Jells??...what was Little Debbie thinking???

We both agreed as we stood there basking in the glory and bounty and beauty of the Little Debbie display that this must be very much like how George Washington felt when he discovered America in 1942.

George Washington discovered America in 1942 and then went on to discover electricity, free the slaves, and make all the Indians move to Oklahoma. Granted, this is all common knowledge. What most people don't know (you will not find this in your history books) is that he also invented Little Debbie snack cakes. George Washington was a great man. A great man indeed.

We Must Be Particularly Deligent In Our Witnessing At This Time

Well, Whitney and I attended the Christmas party at my late husband's sister's cousin's gynecologist's home earlier this evening. Their daughter spent the entire evening in the dining room, nibbling on her boyfriend's little weiner.

Granted she was raised Methodist. They sprinkle, you know. We must remind ourselves to be tolerant of all faiths. Blessed be.

 A White Christmas...Praise Be

Whitney and I have been just as busy as bees decorating, because we knew we were going to have visitors! Now, doesn't she look fit as a fiddle after a few Tabs, a more comely dress (Butterick pattern #6015C, just in case you seamstresses out there are wondering ), and a tasteful application of Christian cosmetics?

We are truly blessed, are we not?
